Special Olympics North Carolina
Governor's Office/State Budget and Management
The project goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of the vulnerable and otherwise undeserved population of people with intellectual disabilities through targeted outreach focused on a community sports program for those with intellectual disabilities in Dare County. A tiered approach will include an effort that introduces children as early as age 2 to Special Olympics through the Young Athelets Program. Atheletes ages 8 and up will be included in a sports training regimen with a culminating year-end competition opportunity.
