Overview: Section 7 of House Bill 377 would have modified the statute that governs the payment of translators for deaf individuals to provide that when the relevant proceeding is in the General Courts of Justice, the fee is set by the director of the Administrative Office of the Courts.
House Bill 377 was ratified by the General Assembly on August 6, 2026, but was vetoed by the Governor on August 17th, 2026, and is not current law. If the General Assembly overrides the veto, Section 7 of House Bill 377 would become effective October 1, 2026.
