Overview: Section 5 of S.L. 2025-70 (Senate Bill 429) modifies the process related to petitions to terminate sex offender registration by requiring the clerk of court upon receipt of the petition from the petitioner to collect the applicable filing fee and place the petition on the criminal docket to be calendared by the district attorney.  

This section becomes effective December 1, 2025, and applies to petitions filed on or after that date.
