Overview: Section 7.18 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) directs the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to administer the Feminine Hygiene Products Program (Program) in each year that funds are made available for the Program.  DPI must develop a process through which public school units can elect to participate in the Program for each school year.  In addition, DPI must contract with the Diaper Bank of North Carolina to provide feminine hygiene products to participating public school units on a pro rata basis based on the number of female students in grades 6-12 in the participating public school units.

DPI must report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee by March 15 of each year of the Program on the public school units receiving feminine hygiene products under the Program, the number of feminine hygiene products provided through the Program, and the number of students served by the Program.

This section became effective July 1, 2026.
