Overview: Section 7.43 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) modifies the statutes on the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) to allow professional development to be provided for all teachers regardless of years of professional experience. This section also grants an Umstead Act exemption so that NCCAT can provide professional development materials and work products to private and out-of-state educational entities, with the proceeds being used to further NCCAT's statutory purposes.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
