Overview: Section 8A.13 of S.L. 2026‑41 (Senate Bill 257), as amended by Sec. 3.21 of S.L. 2026‑61 (House Bill 268), authorizes the State Education Assistance Authority to use $1 million in nonrecurring funds to award Early Graduate Scholarships for students who (i) graduate early from a North Carolina high school in the 2025‑2026 school year and thereafter and (ii) attend an eligible postsecondary institution. Scholarships will be awarded beginning in the 2027‑2028 academic year.
These sections became effective July 1, 2026.
