Overview: Section 6.7 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) requires the State Board of Community Colleges to adopt a policy prohibiting the Community Colleges System Office and community colleges from providing a State-funded scholarship or grant to a student who has been convicted of assaulting any of the following while enrolled as a student:
- An officer or employee of the State.
- An officer or employee of a political subdivision of the State.
The prohibition begins with the semester or academic term following the conviction.
This section is effective December 1, 2026, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
