Overview: Section 6.3 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) expands from 15 to 25 the number of community colleges that can participate in the community college training program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The program provides opportunities for micro-credentials or other credentials that lead to increased employment outcomes for individuals with IDD.
Additionally, the Community Colleges System Office (CCSO) must use appropriated funds for the following:
- Two positions for the training program.
- Career and College Promise high school pathways and pre-apprenticeships and work-based learning for individuals with IDD.
- A marketing evaluation, online resources, professional development, and infrastructure support.
- Program expansion.
The CCSO must continue to provide $194,000 per participating community college.
