Overview: Section 7.61 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) prohibits a member of the State Board of Education (SBE) from beginning employment by a public school unit (PSU) on a temporary or interim basis during the term of the board member's appointment to the SBE. Board members who are employed by a PSU on a temporary or interim basis at the time of appointment to the SBE can continue the existing term of employment.
This section became effective July 7, 2026. Members of the SBE who were employed by a PSU on a temporary or interim basis on this date can complete the term of that employment but cannot begin a new term of employment by a PSU.
