Overview: Section 16.23 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) increases to $14 the telecommunications and data connectivity fee contained in the court costs for criminal matters (G.S. 7A-304), special proceedings (G.S. 7A-306), and administration of estates (G.S. 7A-307). The fee for civil court costs (G.S. 7A-305) remains $4.
This section becomes effective December 1, 2026, and applies to costs assessed on or after that date.
