Overview: Section 16.9 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) amends the law related to electronic filing in courts (G.S. 7A-49.5) to codify a temporary uncodified provision enacted in Section 24 of S.L. 2025-70. This section allows the chief district court judge and senior resident superior court judge of their respective districts to establish rules to allow for the court's manual signature on orders of the court executed outside of court and on fee application orders.
This section became effective July 7, 2026.
