Overview: Section 16.18 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) increases the permitted number of assistant district attorney positions assigned to specific counties by the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys for the purpose of serving as special assistant United States attorneys from a maximum of 12 positions to a maximum of 16 positions.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
