H1104 - Improve Involuntary Commitment Process and Enhance Public Safety. (SL 2026-38)

Overview: Section 10 of S.L. 2026‑38 (House Bill 1104) directs the North Carolina Collaboratory to explore the feasibility of improving the provision of services at Broughton Hospital, Central Regional Hospital, and Cherry Hospital. UNC Health and the Department of Health and Human Services are directed to cooperate with the Collaboratory to complete the required research. The Collaboratory must submit to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services a progress report by December 1, 2026, and a final report by March 1, 2027.
