Overview: Section 9B.5 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) is expanding the information that the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is required to annually report on the use of lapsed salary funds by each Division within DHHS. This section requires DHHS to report the amount of any lapsed salary funds expended by DHHS, broken down by the original source of funds. "The original source of funds" is defined as (i) the General Fund, (ii) federal funds, or (iii) other departmental receipts, excluding federal funds.
The first report with this additional information is due by November 1, 2026.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
