Overview: Section 16.6 of S.L. 2026‑41 (Senate Bill 257) modifies the Human Trafficking Commission Competitive Grant Program by providing that the term of each grant is for two fiscal years comprising a State budget biennium and that grant funds and any interest earned on those funds in the possession or control of a grantee that are not expended, made subject to an encumbrance, or disbursed to a subgrantee by August 31 of the fiscal year following the grant term will revert to the State. Additionally, this section provides that grantees must report to the Human Trafficking Commission by August 31 of each year following a year in which a grantee received funds and that the Human Trafficking Commission must report to the General Assembly by October 31 of each year on the grants awarded in the previous year.
This section became effective July 1, 2026, and applies to grants awarded on or after that date.
