S681 - Agency Policy Directives/2019-2020. (SL 2020-78)

Overview: Sec. 3A.1 of S.L. 2020-78 creates the following two additional criteria that a student can meet to be eligible to receive a need-based scholarship to attend a private institution of higher education: (i) be the dependent relative of a veteran abiding in North Carolina if the relative lives with the veteran and provides the private institution a letter of intent to establish residency in North Carolina, and (ii) be the dependent relative of an active duty member of the Armed Forces abiding in North Carolina because of active military duty while the relative lives with the active duty member.

This section became effective July 1, 2020, and applies beginning with the award of scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year.
