H1030 - 2016 Appropriations Act. (SL 2016-94)

Overview: Sec. 11.8 of S.L. 2016-94 directs that the $1 million in recurring funds appropriated to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina (The University) for the 2016-2017 fiscal year to establish and operate a North Carolina Policy Collaboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill must be used to create a Collaboratory that facilitates the dissemination of the policy and research expertise of The University for practical use by State and local government.

The Collaboratory:

• Must conduct research on natural resources management, including research related to the environmental and economic components of the management of the natural resources within the State and of new technologies for habitat, environmental, and water quality improvement.
• Must develop and disseminate relevant best practices to interested parties.
• May lead or participate in projects across the State related to natural resource management.
• May make recommendations to the General Assembly.
