H97 - 2015 Appropriations Act, Sec. 10.13: Career- and College-Ready Graduates (SL 2015-241)

Overview: Sec. 10.13 of S.L. 2015-241 directs the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC), in consultation with the State Board of Education (SBE), to create a program of community college developmental courses in (i) mathematics and (ii) reading and English in the high school senior year through cooperation with community college partners. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities for college remediation for students before graduation from high school.

The SBCC and SBE must report progress on statewide program implementation to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee by March 15, 2016. The program must be implemented beginning with the 2016-2017 school year.

This section became effective July 1, 2015.
