H97 - 2015 Appropriations Act, Sec. 12F.10: Joint Study of Justice and Public Safety and Behavioral Health (SL 2015-241)

Overview: Sec. 12F.10 of S.L. 2015-241 requires the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services and the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety to each appoint a subcommittee to study the intersection of Justice and Public Safety and behavioral health. The subcommittees must meet jointly to study and report on: (i) the impact of the Justice Reinvestment Act on the State's behavioral health system; (ii) the impact of mental illness and substance abuse on county law enforcement agencies; (iii) the impact of judicial decisions on the State's behavioral health and social services system; and (iv) any other issues the subcommittees jointly deem appropriate. Each subcommittee must submit a report of its findings and recommendations to its respective committee.
