H97 - 2015 Appropriations Act, Sec. 14.10: Shellfish Cultivation Leasing Reform (SL 2015-241)

Overview: Sec. 14.10 of S.L. 2015-241 amends the statute governing shellfish cultivation leases, to allow the applicant for a lease to delineate the area proposed for leasing using coordinate information provided by a GPS-equipped device. Previously, applicants were required to provide a formal survey of the area proposed for leasing. The provision also extends the initial lease period for a shellfish cultivation lease from 5 to 10 years.

This section became effective July 1, 2015, and applies to shellfish lease applications received by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources on or after September 18, 2015.
