A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds for two additional district court judges for District court district 12 and two additional magistrates for cumberland county.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 7A-133 reads as rewritten:
"§ 7A-133. Numbers of judges by districts; numbers of magistrates and additional seats of court, by counties.
(a) Each district court district shall have the numbers of judges as set forth in the following table:

SECTION 2. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Judicial Department the sum of three hundred eighteen thousand seven hundred eighty-eight dollars ($318,788) for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and the sum of three hundred eighteen thousand seven hundred eighty-eight dollars ($318,788) for the 2014-2015 fiscal year to establish two additional district court judge positions for District Court District 12.
SECTION 3. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Judicial Department the sum of ninety thousand nine hundred thirty-nine dollars ($90,939) for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and the sum of ninety thousand nine hundred thirty-nine dollars ($90,939) for the 2014-2015 fiscal year to establish two additional magistrate positions for Cumberland County.
SECTION 4. The Governor shall appoint the two additional district court judges for District Court District 12 authorized by this act, and those judges' successors shall be elected in the 2014 election for four-year terms commencing January 1, 2015.
SECTION 5. This act becomes effective July 1, 2013.
