A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to extend the deer seasons and remove bag limits on deer in order to reduce the deer population in the state.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 113-291.2 or any other provision of law, beginning with the 2007 hunting seasons, the Wildlife Resources Commission shall extend each of the seasons for taking deer with guns by opening the season one week earlier and closing it one week later than previously established by rule of the Commission. The Commission may adjust the bow and arrow and muzzle-loading seasons in its discretion in order to accommodate for the lengthening of the gun seasons.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 113-291.2 or any other provision of law, there shall be no bag limits during any deer season established by the Wildlife Resources Commission.
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law and expires January 1, 2009.
