§ 81A-54.  Official seal of the public weighmaster.

(a) It shall be the duty of every public weighmaster to obtain an official seal that contains the following information:

(1) "North Carolina Public Weighmaster."

(2) The weighmaster's name.

(3) The assigned weighmaster license number.

(4) The expiration date of the weighmaster license.

(b) The seal shall be stamped or impressed on every certificate issued pursuant to this Article. When an electronic stamp is used, the weighmaster's signature shall be captured using either of the following:

(1) Software that requires the user to sign in prior to adding the electronic signature to the certificate.

(2) An electronic signature pad that captures the signature live and then transfers it to the certificate.

(c) The weighers of tobacco in leaf tobacco warehouses may use, instead of the seal, their signatures in ink or other indelible substance posted in a conspicuous and accessible place in the warehouse. All seals remain the property of the State and shall be returned to the Commissioner upon termination of duties as a public weighmaster.  (1939, c. 285, s. 4; 1941, c. 317, s. 1; 1975, c. 544; 1981, c. 607, s. 4; 1989, c. 544, s. 21; 2026-11, s. 13(b).)
