SENATE BILL 909

 

 

AN ACT to EXEMPT CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM THE UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE OF THE city OF LEXINGTON AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE LEXINGTON CITY COUNCIL SHALL APPOINt one City Council member and one Staff member to the Davidson County Jail Committee FOR LIMITED PURPOSES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

SECTION 1.  For so long as it is used for a public purpose, the following property shall be exempt from the Unified Development Ordinance of the City of Lexington as it exists on the effective date of this act and any subsequent amendments or reenactments: the property referenced in Plat Book 73, Page 96 and Deed Book 617, Page 899 in the Davidson County Register of Deeds.

SECTION 2.(a)  The Lexington City Council shall appoint one City Council member and one Staff member to the Davidson County Jail Committee. These members may participate, discuss, and vote on matters related to the façade, exterior, sidewalks, streetscapes, and plantings of the jail, but shall not participate, discuss, and vote on building programming.

SECTION 2.(b)  This section is effective when it becomes law, and applies to appointments made on or after that date.

SECTION 3.  Except as otherwise provided, this act is effective when it becomes law.
