HOUSE BILL 476
AN ACT to establish a stanly county residency requirement for Two district court seats in judicial district 20a.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 7A‑133(b6) reads as rewritten:
"(b6) (Effective January
1, 2021, with elections in 2020 to be held accordingly) The qualified
voters of District 20A shall elect all judges established for District 20A in
subsection (a) of this section, but only persons who reside in Montgomery
County may be candidates for one of the judgeships, and only persons who reside
in Montgomery or Stanly County may be candidates for the remaining
judgeships."
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective January 1, 2023, and elections held in 2022 shall be held accordingly.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 1st day of September, 2021.
