AN ACT TO extend the term of mayor from two to four years in the town of carolina shores.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

SECTION 1.  Section 3.4 of the Charter of the Town of Carolina Shores, being S.L. 1998‑75, as amended by Town Ordinance No. 19‑6 adopted December 6, 2018, reads as rewritten:

"Sec. 3.4.  Selection of Mayor; Term of Office.  The qualified voters of the entire Town elect the Mayor Theodora Altreuter shall serve as Mayor to serve until the organizational meeting after the 1999 municipal election. A Mayor shall be elected in 1999 and biennially thereafter for a two-year term.to serve a four‑year term."

SECTION 2.  The Brunswick County Board of Elections shall reopen the filing period for the office of Mayor for the Town of Carolina Shores for a period to run from September 7, 2021, to September 10, 2021.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law, and municipal elections in 2021 and thereafter shall be held accordingly.
